Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT)

The systems to determine location, find the way from one place to another and supply accurate time synchronization have expanded and improved substantially in recent years. While GPS/GNSS is a wonderful global utility concerns about jamming and spoofing have been raised. There are other disadvantages too. It does not work well indoors or in obstructed environments and is susceptible to disruption by space weather. These and other considerations have led to efforts to find appropriate back-up systems. Among them are eLORAN, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), Inertial Navigation Systems (INSs), Iridium, Signals of Opportunity (SOP) and Kepler. This seminar is about the strengths and weaknesses of each of these systems.
